The Colorado Fall Preview.
It is the last horse show of their 2015 summer riding season. In past years, my daughters opted to skip this particular show. Either the show would occur the week before the Labor Day (USA) holiday weekend, or the week after, making it difficult to prepare adequately while balancing going to school. Though the fall term began last week, this year, the calendar and class schedule worked out nicely.
At this show, my daughters will be riding strictly as hunters. Tricia Booker, professional equestrian photographer extraordinaire, said it best, “[U]nlike show jumpers that compete against the clock, these show horses are judged subjectively on their jumping style and movement. They’re like eye candy for horse lovers!” Over their summer campaign, the girls thoroughly enjoyed riding in hunter events. It’s all about equestrian style and elegance, which my daughters like very much. They are seriously considering on whether to ride the Winter Equestrian Festival circuit in Florida next year, and/or in 2017.
The other fall preview – the early fall colors have been taking shape for the past couple weeks, at the highest elevations, in the Colorado Rockies.
