The placid skies …

The light, snowy blanket …

Both belie the bitterness of the cold. The ice crystals on the outer window speak of the frigidity that lies outside.

It’s not the Arctic, but it’s close enough with the bitter cold temperatures. We awoke to temperatures around -6°F/-22°C. Though the sun revealed itself this afternoon, the temperatures has improved to 10°F/-14°C with a wind chill around 0°F/-17°C. The overnight is expected to be a repeat of last night. But if the clear skies remain, it’ll be colder.

The catch-phrase for the next few days will be “dress warmly”. With the girls, it’ll be more of the wrapped-scarf style.
