Man on the Moon

Apollo 17 was the last manned mission to the moon, and today marks the 40th anniversary of the third and final walk of that mission. Since that last walk, we observe and admire the moon from the ground …

Hopefully, one day, we’ll return to the moon.

  1. I believe we will return to the moon, and more. Mars, maybe?
Speaking of outer space, did you check out the meteor showers this evening? Lots and lots of shooting stars, if you can brave the cold weather! My daughter and I stuck our heads through my car sunroof with the heat blasting and saw quite a light show. It’s supposed to continue through tomorrow evening if you want to check it out. Just don’t get a stiff neck like I did!

    • I’m sure we’ll get back to the moon, but I hope the wait isn’t too long.

We had cloud cover last night, and the overcast is expected to last through most of tonight and so the opportunity to catch any of the meteor shower is not likely.

  2. I would have loved to witness this grand event. Well, I witnessed it, I was looking at it on TV like millions of people when they first walk on the moon, but, alas, I don’t remember, I was too young !
I really love your first photo, it’s so beautiful !

    • I saw most of the walks on the moon on TV as well. There was some scattered clouds on the night I took these photos. The first one was when the moon was beginning to come out from behind the clouds.
