Last week, Jeffrey Foltice at Photo Nature Blog showed a beautiful red-tailed hawk jumping into flight from its perch. His shot reminded me when this hawk came to visit, taking perch on our fence two years ago.
My guess was that he was taking pause in his hunt, possibly for doves which are quite numerous in our neighborhood.
After staying for several minutes, he continued on his way.

When the hawk did this head swivel, it caught the attention of Egypt, my tabby girl, who was watching in the window. I think she took it as a dare.
